Transferring my Saltwater tank?

aquapod
None N asked:

I have a 12 gallon aquapod saltwater tank. I have a bunch of corals and a few fish. I just bought a 24 gallon nanocube , I need to transfer everything to it.

So, the tank is brand new. No bacteria and stuff…

The guy at the fish store (the owner of this big saltwater store) said to just move EVERYTHING to the new tank. Not to run the tank for a few weeks like I’d expect. So… is that what I should do? I guess just move everything? I’m sort of scared of killing the expensive coral and fishes…

So just want to verify if he was right or not.

I want to start a reef tank but not sure what kind of tank to start with? Biocube, Nanocube Red seamax?

demolitions24 asked:

Im not sure what I should do. Should I go with a combo tank like the Red Sea Max complete aquarium (which looks fully complete), the biocube , nanocube , aquapod , or should I go with a conventional setup? The redsea max sounds like the best deal but the price is pretty steep. Im not concerned over money if its for the best but I also dont want to waste money on uneeded equipment. Im happy with 20-40 gallons. I dont care to go higher then that. Thanks for the suggestions!

saltwater nano tank! help please :)?

nano cube
Robert M asked:

i was thinking about starting up a saltwater tank again some time soon.

TANK: 28g nano cube with Hqi (150watts)

nano tanks come with everything u need right? (filter, skimmer, light, etc)

here is a list of stuff i want to put inside:

(paar) Ocellaris Clownfish (possible a black paar)
Bubble Tip Anemone (for the clownfish)
Firefish Goby
Banggai Cardinal
Lawnmower Blenny
Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
Fire Shrimp
Sexy Shrimp (group of 3-4)
Algae Scrub Crew (cleaning crew Snails, hermit crabs, etc)
Corals (zoathids, mushrooms, polpys, etc)

also would have:

20-25pounds of live sand
25pounds of Tonga Branch Live Rock

i would be doing a biweekly water change of 20% (aprox. 5g) the tank isn’t over stocked or? should a maybe remove the firefish goby or Banggai Cardinal?
its gonna mainly be a coral reef tank with only FEW fish.

any suggestions at all or does it sound like a good idea? i will NOT add everything at the same time, just slowly (few months).
the 28g nano come with 150watts light witch would normaly be 5.35watts per gallon. but with all the live rock, sand, etc it wouldn’t be 28gallons, right? more like 20-22g or not? witch would make it aprox. 7 watts per gallon. that should be enough for most corals, right?

thanks alot, rob :)

michael_angelo076 asked:

i am new to salt water and have gotten from someone one of these bio tanks. i plan on getting some live rocks how much do i need for this size tank? [14 gallon] and I read somewhere it was better to replace the little plastic balls in the filter area with small pieces of live rocks, Would this be better? how long do i let my new tank cycle for before i buy the live rocks?
I plan on using Tonga live rocks
or how good is this lace rock?

Bubble Anemone?

biocube
Desiree A asked:

I have a 14 gallon biocube {NO, ITS A NANO RUN AWAY!!! *in a sissy little voice* ,’:( shut up.} with 3 green chromises and 1 ocellarous clown fish. I am thinking of getting a bubble tip anemone because he seems to just swim around and doesn’t have a “home” (my other fish do). I’m not stupid, I’ve researched the anemone, but I can’t find what I’m looking for. Will the anemone cause harm to my fish? Will the anemone survive in my tank? Answers and any other information would be helpful. I am only entertaining the idea, so don’t go criticizing me. Don’t give me any cr@p about having a nano, either. If you do, you’re せいはく cause I told you not to. Thanks!
sorry if I was a little harsh. I have encountered people who told me off for keeping a nano or asking a question like this.

pump in new biocube is sucking air and draining well immediately. What do I do?

biocube
bjpjwp asked:

I have no idea what to do with it now. Afraid if I leave it running I’ll kill the pump.
Thought other newbies might like to know that keeping the tank level is the answer. Checked it out of frustration and found that the stand was off just enough to keep the well from filling properly. Adjusted to level and the pump works like a charm.
