Nano Cube HQI Aquarium?

nano cube
Zach asked:

I’m thinking about getting a nano cube HQI aquarium. I see someone wrote a review at http://nanoreefgear.com/28-gallon-jbj- nano-cube -hqi but I’d like a second opinion from somebody else that has one.

Thanks.

I have often heard good things about the nano-cubes, but be aware that the smaller the tank, the harder it is to keep things running smoothly (especially in a saltwater setup).

If you have saltwater experience already, you’ll probably do just fine with a nano-cube. But if you’re new to saltwater, you may want to save your $$$ and start with something bigger before attempting a small tank.

Personally, I would avoid the nano-cube simply because I do not have that much time and energy to devote to keeping it in balance. But, I am sure there are lots of people who have and love the nano-cube. If you’ve got the time and energy for it, and the experience - I’d say go for it. ;)

im looking at either this or the BC29,

the problem with this tank is the amount of heat it produces… Yes the lighting, HQI 150 watt metal halide is the best in the business but it does lack the actinic lighting.

This tank is good for hard corals which power compacts on the BC cant handle

The filteration is good on this tank, 3 stage and protien skimmer. the dual returns and wave maker make this tank a good one.

the flaws would be the price tag, 500 for this aquarium, while yes it has alot of stuff, the BC29 is around 235. the hood isnt as nice as the BC but that is personal choice.

So those are my notes on the JBJ HQI nano cube… personally im at the crosspoint of this aquarium or the BC29.
