How strong is the water curent in my tank?

How can I tell how strong the water in my marina tank is and how strong is strong? Any suggestions on how to make it stronger/weaker if necessary? I have a 30g aquapod reef tank.

    First take any props out of the tank by the surface. Then put something at the front of the tank the floats and see how fast it goes to the other side. Then its just like finding mph on a car.
