I think I’m going to buy the aquapod 24g 150W HQI Metal Halide system and turn it into a reef environment. can i keep a clam in it or is it too small of a tank?

With those lights and that small of an aquarium it should be no problem, they grow to about 6″
You SHOULD wait at least 6 months before buying one because they are filter feeders and require a mature tank with plenty of micro organisms in the water.

If you get them small enough they take a LONG time to get really large and they are actually really good to have in the tank,. they are filter feeders so they will feed opn extra stuff blowing around in the water. 150W halide setup is perfect i have 2 ion my 36 gallon reef under 250W halides but 150 is more than fine. i do however reccomend letting the tank cycle and mature a bit befor adding one.
The reason i say get them small is because you want room for other coral and whatnot in the tank so realize that you wanna leave room for other things. once they get their foot hold on a spot they like they hold on pretty tight and moving them around to fit a coral will be nearly impossible with hurting the thing.
